Meteorological Climatologycal and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) of Indonesia releases two kinds of Seasonal Forecast every year, namely Dry Season Forecast which is released every early March and Rainy Season Forecast which is released every early September.

Based on classified monthly average rainfall distribution pattern, BMKG indentifies whole Indonesia region as follows:

a. Area which has noticeable difference between the dry and rainy seasons according to the seasonal criteria, namely Seasonal Area (SA).

b. Area which has no clear difference between the dry and rainy seasons according to the seasonal criteria, namely Non Seasonal Area (Non SA).

BMKG collaborates with National Coordinating of Surveys and Mapping Agency (BAKOSURTANAL) in providing information regarding rice field area in every Seasonal Area (SA) for this Rainy Season Forecast of 2011/2012.
