LEVEL OF ACIDITY (pH) RAIN WATER IN INDONESIA FEBRUARY 2012
Monitoring the level of rain water acidity (pH) in Indonesia is carried out in 35 (thirty five) station. The sampling method Wet Deposition and Wet & Dry Deposition by means of Automatic Rain Water Sampler (ARWS). Analysis of rainwater samples in the laboratory air quality BMKG by using ion chromatograph.
In February 2012, the amount of rain water samples received at the Laboratory of Air Quality from 24 (twenty four) rainfall observation stations in Indonesia.
The results showed that the level of acidity (pH) of rain in 2 (twenty two) cities : ANGKASA PURA - JAYAPURA, BANDUNG - JAWA BARAT, BAWIL - 1 - MEDAN, CITEKO - CISARUA, DARMAGA - BOGOR, JUANDA - SURABAYA, KARANG PLOSO - MALANG, KEMAYORAN - JAKARTA, KENTEN - PALEMBANG, KOTOTABANG - PADANG, PANAKUKANG - MAROS, PATIMURA - AMBON, PULAU BAAI - BENGKULU, SAMRATULANGI - MANADO, SELAPARANG - MATARAM, SEMARANG - JAWA TENGAH, SIANTAN - PONTIANAK, ST.THAHA - JAMBI, TANGERANG - BANTEN, TEMINDUNG - SAMARINDA, TJILIK RIWUT - PALANGKARAYA, YOGYAKARTA - JAWA TENGAH is under the Threshold, normal rainwater pH of 5.6. This condition indicates that the rain which fell in the 22 (twenty two), the city is acidic.
Acidity of rain in cities BANJAR BARU - BANJARBARU, BRANTI - LAMPUNG shows the pH value of rain water is above Threshold (pH = 5.6).
In more detail, the results of analysis of the pH of rainwater in January 2012 can be seen in the map and chart below:
